El Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa fue fundado el 27 de noviembre de 1927 en la ciudad de David, bajo la guía de las Hijas de la Caridad de San Vicente de Paúl, con el propósito de brindar protección y cuidado a niñas en situación de orfandad, abandono y extrema pobreza.
A lo largo de su historia, la institución ha evolucionado para responder a las necesidades sociales de cada época. En 1957, gracias a la gestión de Sor María Medina, se amplían sus servicios con la construcción de nuevas instalaciones, permitiendo ofrecer internado, educación y apoyo integral a la niñez y juventud. Sin embargo, a partir de 1975, debido a cambios económicos, el Hogar se enfoca exclusivamente en la atención de niñas en condición de vulnerabilidad.
Durante más de 99 años de servicio, el Hogar ha acogido a más de mil niñas y adolescentes provenientes de diversas regiones, incluyendo comunidades de difícil acceso y la Comarca Ngäbe Buglé, brindándoles formación integral basada en valores, educación, salud y acompañamiento psicosocial.
Hoy, el Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa continúa siendo un referente de apoyo y esperanza en la provincia de Chiriquí, comprometido con el desarrollo integral de niñas y adolescentes, muchas de las cuales han logrado convertirse en profesionales que aportan activamente a la sociedad.

Historical Review
The Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa (Home of the Miraculous Medal) was founded on November 27, 1927, in the city of David, under the guidance of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, with the purpose of providing protection and care to girls who were orphaned, abandoned, and living in extreme poverty.
Throughout its history, the institution has evolved to respond to the social needs of each era. In 1957, thanks to the efforts of Sister María Medina, its services were expanded with the construction of new facilities, allowing it to offer boarding, education, and comprehensive support to children and young people. For more than 99 years of service, the Home has welcomed over a thousand girls and adolescents from various regions, including remote communities and the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca, providing them with comprehensive values-based education, healthcare, and psychosocial support.
