Historical Review
The Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa (Home of the Miraculous Medal) was founded on November 27, 1927, in the city of David, under the guidance of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, with the purpose of providing protection and care to girls who were orphaned, abandoned, and living in extreme poverty.

Throughout its history, the institution has evolved to respond to the social needs of each era. In 1957, thanks to the efforts of Sister María Medina, its services were expanded with the construction of new facilities, allowing it to offer boarding, education, and comprehensive support to children and young people. However, beginning in 1975, due to economic changes, the Home focused exclusively on the care of girls in vulnerable situations.

For more than 99 years of service, the Home has welcomed over a thousand girls and adolescents from various regions, including remote communities and the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca, providing them with comprehensive values-based education, healthcare, and psychosocial support.

Today, the Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa (Home of the Miraculous Medal) continues to be a beacon of support and hope in the province of Chiriquí, committed to the holistic development of girls and adolescents, many of whom have gone on to become professionals actively contributing to society.

Likewise, the Hogar de la Medalla Milagrosa expresses its deep gratitude to all the individuals, foundations, and benefactors who, with generosity and social commitment, have contributed to the strengthening and growth of this noble endeavor.

Special recognition is given to the invaluable support of Mr. Emanuel González Revilla, who made the move to the new home in Nuevo San Carlitos possible by securing the land and providing the support for the construction of the houses that now shelter our girls and adolescents.

Similarly, thanks are extended to the Hogar Medalla Milagrosa Support Association in David, Chiriquí, for their significant collaboration in furnishing the houses, as well as to the various donors and supportive individuals who have contributed significantly to the well-being and operation of the institution.

We also extend our recognition to the Sus Buenos Vecinos Foundation, currently the Banco General Foundation, for their valuable contributions for more than seven years, constantly contributing to the operation and sustainability of the Home, allowing us to continue providing comprehensive care, protection and hope to girls and adolescents in vulnerable situations.
